Chapter 14 - Restoring the Name

That evening, the sun set over the Cedar Ridge harbor, casting a warm golden glow across the water.
Dozens of cargo ships rested peacefully in their berths, their operations running smoothly under the newly established oversight protocols.
Emily stood on the observation deck of the port authority building, looking out over the expanding terminal.
Daniel walked up beside her, holding two cups of warm coffee from the local roastery.
"You look like you belong here," Daniel said, handing her a cup.
"It feels strange," Emily admitted with a soft laugh.
"A year ago, I was worried about whether I could afford groceries and my mother’s prescriptions.
Now, I’m signing off on multi-million-dollar safety audits.

"Life has a way of balancing out when you refuse to surrender to fear," Daniel said, looking down at her with genuine admiration.
"My mother asked me to remind you that dinner is at seven tonight.
She’s making her special roast.

"Tell her I wouldn't miss it for the world," Emily replied, taking a sip of the warm coffee.
