Chapter 15 - THE APPEAL HEARING
The courtroom was packed to capacity. Vanessa sat at the defense table, wearing a crisp beige prison jumpsuit, her hollow eyes fixed on Emma with pure malice. Beside her, Julian Vance delivered a grandiloquent speech claiming his client was an innocent victim of emotional manipulation.
Then, Emma’s team took the floor.
With Harrison’s forensic evidence, Marcus presented undisputed proof to the presiding judge: Vanessa had been actively communicating with illegal offshore syndicates using smuggled contraband phones from inside her cell, attempting to hide assets recovered by the foundation.

The judge’s face turned to stone. "Mrs. Vanessa, you have not only wasted this court's time, but you have actively engaged in ongoing felony conspiracy from inside a state correctional facility."
The appeal was thrown out with prejudice. Vanessa shrieked as bailiffs restrained her, dragging her out of the courtroom while Emma watched silently, her posture unflinching and calm.
