Six months later, the spring sun warmed the garden behind their home. Elena sat on a colorful blanket on the grass, reaching for a soft wooden toy.

Mateo came out onto the porch carrying two glasses of fresh lemonade. He set them on the small table and sat beside Lucia on the wooden bench.

"The consulting firm is stable," Mateo mentioned casually. "We signed two local clients today. No travel required."

Lucia smiled, leaning her shoulder lightly against his. "That's wonderful news, Mateo."

He looked out at the garden, then turned to her, his expression earnest and peaceful. "A year ago, I was walking through a hotel corridor thinking I had everything figured out. I was completely blind."

"And now?" Lucia asked gently.

Mateo took her hand, his fingers weaving firmly through hers. "Now I'm right where I belong. With my family."

Lucia rested her head on his shoulder as their daughter laughed softly on the lawn, the quiet promise of a renewed future fulfilled in the simple warmth of the afternoon light.
