Knowing he was losing, Julian Thorne escalated the war. He initiated a hostile takeover bid for Sterling Enterprise, attempting to buy out retail shareholders at an inflated price.
Cassidy needed capital to counter the buyout, but traditional banks were hesitant due to the ongoing media scandal. She reached out to Alexander Sterling—Vance’s estranged uncle and a legendary wall-street recluse who held a massive grudge against Vance's branch of the family.
They met at a secluded estate in the countryside.
"Why should I back you, Cassidy?" Alexander asked, sipping his dark tea. "You bear my family’s name, but you stripped my nephew of his power."

Alexander studied her fierce determination for a long moment, then broke into a rare smile. "You have more spine than any Sterling I’ve ever met. You have my capital."
