By midweek, the tabloid media had whipped up a frenzy. Headlines splashed Cassidy’s face alongside dramatic fabrications: “ICE QUEEN MOTHER: STERLING ENTERPRISE CEO UNFIT FOR CUSTODY?”
At a public press conference called by Vance, he put on a tearful performance, claiming he was a heartbroken father kept away from his innocent child by a ruthless, power-hungry ex-wife.
Back at the estate, Cassidy held Hope, who was feverish and upset by the surrounding media helicopters hovering outside their gates. The pressure was suffocating, but it only crystallized Cassidy’s rage.
That night, Marcus Vance—a brilliant private investigator and long-time ally—arrived through a secret entrance at the estate.

"Julian Thorne is funding Vance’s legal team through an offshore shell company in Panama," Marcus revealed, sliding a tablet across the desk. "They’ve bribed two of your board members, Harrison and Miller."
Cassidy stared at the glowing screen. "They think they are trapping a frightened woman. They don't realize they've stepped into my arena. Let Harrison and Miller think they succeeded. We leak fake financial reports to them tonight."
