Chapter 14 - A Mother’s Fury
The bait was swallowed. Harrison and Miller immediately passed the falsified financial reports to Julian Thorne and Vance, believing it contained proof of Cassidy’s embezzlement.
Meanwhile, Vance launched an unscheduled legal motion to demand an immediate temporary custody transfer of Hope pending the trial.
Cassidy appeared at the family court hearing personally. Dressed in a striking royal blue suit, she exuded absolute power. Vance’s lawyer presented their "evidence" of Cassidy’s erratic behavior and financial fraud.
When given the floor, Cassidy stepped forward calmly.
"Your Honor," Cassidy began, her voice ringing clear throughout the courtroom. "The defense relies on documents supplied by Mr. Thorne. However, those files carry digital watermarks indicating they were illegally extracted from a honeypot server I created specifically to track corporate espionage."
She submitted forensic cyber-evidence demonstrating that Vance and Julian had hacked her personal network and fabricated medical records.

The judge’s face darkened as he reviewed the evidence. "Mr. Hayes," the judge warned Vance’s attorney, "if these allegations of fabrication are true, your client faces severe criminal charges."
The motion for emergency custody was denied on the spot. Vance stormed out of the courtroom, red-faced, while Cassidy walked out with her head held high.
