Chapter 6 - THE NEW INVESTIGATION

Over the weeks that followed, every piece of “proof” that had sent Mom to death row unraveled completely. Forensic teams found faint traces of Douglas’s DNA on the knife handle—too small to show up on the first, rushed test. They uncovered bank records showing he’d been desperate for money, deep in debt to dangerous people. Witnesses came forward who’d seen him near our home that night, long after he’d claimed to have left.

Every lie he’d woven so carefully came apart thread by thread.
