Chapter 5 - The Fall of the VancesDesperate to avoid complete ruin, Victoria went directly to Eleanor’s small house, abandoning all sense of pride. She knocked frantically on the door until Eleanor opened it.

Victoria fell to her knees, tears streaming down her face—this time, real tears of terror.

"Eleanor, please!" Victoria cried, reaching out to touch the hem of Eleanor’s skirt. "Tell Ethan to stop! He’s bankrupting my father! We’ll lose our mansion, our cars, everything! I’ll apologize publicly! I'll kneel right here on your doorstep!"

Eleanor looked down at the young woman who had once treated her like dirt. There was no anger in Eleanor’s eyes, only deep sorrow.

"Get up, Victoria," Eleanor said gently, taking a step back. "Kneeling out of fear isn't an apology. It's just cowardice."

"Please, speak to him!" Victoria begged.

"When you humiliated me, Ethan didn't defend me because of money," Eleanor said quietly. "He defended me because of character. You took away my husband's legacy and tried to crush my son's soul. Now, you must face the consequences of the seeds you sowed."

Eleanor closed the door firmly, leaving Victoria crying hysterically in the empty hallway.
