Chapter 4 - The Tables TurnThe boardroom at Vance Enterprises was tense. Arthur Vance wiped sweat from his brow as he waited for the principal investor from Vanguard. Victoria sat beside him, impatient and tapping her manicured acrylic nails against the mahogany table.

"Where is this investor?" Victoria snapped. "We've been waiting for twenty minutes!"
The doors swung open. A tall man in a tailored charcoal suit walked in, flanked by four legal advisors.
Victoria’s jaw dropped. Arthur stood up so fast his chair nearly tipped over.
"Ethan?!" Victoria gasped, her eyes wide with shock and contempt. "What kind of sick joke is this? Security! Get this trash out of my office!"
"Sit down, Victoria," Ethan said smoothly, pulling out a chair at the head of the table. "Security answers to the people who control the money. And right now, that's me."
Sophia stepped forward, placing a thick contract on the table. "Aegis Capital, under Vanguard, has just acquired sixty percent of Vance Group’s outstanding debt. You have twenty-four hours to liquidate your assets to cover the loan, or default entirely."

Arthur went pale, clutching his chest. "Ethan... please. We had a disagreement, but we are reasonable people. We can partner on this!"
"Reasonable?" Ethan leaned in, his gaze burning like dry ice. "Six months ago, your daughter demanded my mother bow on her knees for a splash of wine. You told me I was nothing. Today, you are standing on my floor."
