Chapter 2: The Perfect Plan

I had married Arthur Lang for one reason only.
Revenge.
Three years ago, his family had destroyed mine.
My father had built a small but successful chain of boutique hotels. The Lang family wanted them. When my father refused to sell, they used every dirty trick in the book — false reviews, bribed inspectors, threats to suppliers — until my father’s health collapsed and he was forced to sell at a fraction of what the hotels were worth.
He died six months later from a heart attack.
I inherited nothing but debt and rage.
So I spent the next three years becoming invisible.
I changed my name slightly. I built a holding company under layers of shell corporations. I quietly bought up shares in every major Lang property, every hotel they owned, every mortgage they carried. By the time Arthur met me at a charity gala, I already controlled 62% of their entire empire without any of them knowing.
Arthur thought he had found a beautiful, intelligent, slightly shy business consultant who would be the perfect obedient wife.

His family thought they had gained another quiet daughter-in-law who would know her place.
They had no idea they had just welcomed the woman who was about to burn their entire world to the ground.
