Chapter 11: The Matriarch’s Judgment

Julian spun around, pointing the revolver toward his mother with a wild, frantic cry, demanding to know what she was doing out of bed at this ungodly hour. Beatrice did not flinch, nor did she lower her gaze; she walked into the brightly lit study with the absolute authority of a queen addressing a treasonous subject. She called his name in a voice so sharp and biting that Julian lowered the barrel of the gun slightly, his hand trembling under the sheer psychological weight of maternal dominance. Beatrice told him that his reckless greed, criminal incompetence, and unhinged temper had brought absolute shame upon their family name, and the board of directors had already unanimously voted to strip him of his CEO title effective immediately. Julian stared at his mother in sheer disbelief, his voice cracking as he shouted that the company belonged to him by divine right of inheritance. Beatrice calmly replied that an empire built on fraud, intimidation, and cruelty deserved nothing less than complete collapse. Evelyn used this fierce domestic distraction to slip past them both, clutching the document pouch tightly as she backed toward the hallway. Julian caught movement out of the corner of his eye and lunged forward with explosive speed, abandoning the gun to grab Evelyn violently by the wrist, swinging her around with enough force to send her crashing into the mahogany bookshelf. Books spilled in a chaotic cascade across the polished floorboards. Lily, awakened by the shouting downstairs, appeared at the study doorway in her cotton pajamas, screaming in terror as she watched her father assault her mother. That single, piercing cry of a terrified child broke whatever fragile sanity Julian had left, but it also triggered an unstoppable protective fury within Evelyn. Ignoring the throbbing pain in her bruised wrist, Evelyn pushed off the bookshelf with every ounce of strength in her athletic frame, driving her foot upward in a swift, devastating front kick that caught Julian squarely in the chest. The powerful impact lifted him off his feet, sending him crashing backward through the open study door and sprawling hard onto the hallway carpet, where he lay gasping for air. Beatrice stood over her fallen son with a face carved from stone, stepping past him without a backward glance to join Evelyn and Lily in the hallway. The domestic dynasty was completely dismantled, and the road to true freedom lay wide open before them.
