Chapter 3 - The Council of VipersOutside the mansion, parked down the private driveway in a sleek tinted sedan, corporate rival and longtime enemy Marcus Vance watched the household chaos unfold through a pair of high-powered binoculars. Beside him sat Tabitha’s lawyer, who had been orchestrating a quiet legal maneuver to siphon Lucas’s medical patents into a shell company.

“The catalyst worked,” Marcus muttered into his encrypted phone, calling Tabitha directly. “Lucas has seen the footage. He’s furious, but that anger is going to make him vulnerable. Push the emergency custody petition tonight. Claim he’s emotionally unstable and unfit to run the Sterling Foundation.”
Inside the house, Lucas made his decision instantly. He walked over to his study, bypassed the standard security protocols, and locked the mahogany doors from the inside. He pulled out his encrypted satellite phone and dialed his head of legal and corporate security, David.
"David, freeze every single joint asset, corporate account, and trust fund linked to Tabitha and Sarah immediately," Lucas commanded, his eyes reflecting the cold glare of his computer monitors. "And pull the complete medical history records of Lily’s treatments over the past two years. I want every instance of medication withholding documented and sent directly to the family court magistrate."

"Boss," David replied cautiously over the line, "Tabitha and Sarah have already filed an emergency injunction with Judge Sterling—a corrupt magistrate on their payroll—claiming you posed a threat during the altercation. They're trying to strip you of custody and take full control of your medical patents by morning."
A chilling, predatory smile crept onto Lucas’s face. Let them try. They thought they were playing a game of high-society chess, but they had just stepped into a cage with a wolf.
