Chapter 2: The Marriage I Thought Was Real

Michael and I had been married for six years.

When we met, he was charming and ambitious. I was running a successful tech company I had built from the ground up after my father stepped back.

Michael loved the lifestyle my success provided.

He loved the private jets, the luxury cars, the VIP tables at clubs.

He just didn’t love working for any of it.

Over time, he started using my corporate cards for “business expenses” that were really for his personal life — expensive dinners, gifts for other women, even trips I didn’t know about.

I ignored the signs for years because I wanted to believe in the marriage.
