Chapter 6: The Exit

With a flickof his wrist, Maya's father tossed the digital tablet onto the pristine white altar, the device sliding to a haltbeside the ceremonial unity candles. He extended a strong, steady hand down to Maya, ignoring the pathetic, stammeredapologies now spilling from Brandon's lips. Maya slipped her fingers into her father's palm, rising effortlessly to herfeet as the silk bathrobe rustled softly against the polished marble. She cast one final, pitying glance at the manshe had once loved—a man whose unearned arrogance had blinded him to loyalty and truth—before turning her back onthe ruined spectacle entirely.

Side by side, father and daughter walked slowly toward the grand double doors, leaving the stunnedcrowd of elites in a suffocating, unbearable silence. As they crossed the threshold out of the banquet hall, the heavyoak doors began to swing shut behind them, sealing the fate of the disgraced groom and his deceitful bride within a prisonof their own making. Brandon stood frozen beneath the glittering chandeliers, utterly ruined and entirely alone, while Maya walked forward into the brightafternoon air with her head held high, completely vindicated and free.
