Chapter 5 - Healing Beneath the SurfaceThe aftermath of the garden incident marked a permanent turning point for the Vance household. Arthur wasted no time reshaping the inner circle, officially cutting off all financial and social ties to Victoria and her enablers. The toxic elements that had poisoned the family dynamic for years were purged overnight.

Inside the main house, the atmosphere shifted from one of cold high-society pressure to genuine warmth. Julian spent his evenings making up for lost time, sitting on the nursery floor with Lily, reading stories and rebuilding her sense of security.

One evening, Clara sat by the grand bay window in the study, looking out over the illuminated gardens. The sun had set, casting a peaceful twilight glow across the room.

Julian walked in quietly, holding two cups of warm tea. He handed one to Clara and knelt beside her chair, resting his hands gently on her knees—including the mechanical joint of her prosthetic. There was no pity in his touch, only profound love and reverence.

"How is your leg holding up, love?" Julian asked softly.

Clara smiled, taking a sip of the tea. "It's stronger than it used to be. Every day gets a little easier."

"Good," Julian whispered, kissing her knuckles. "Because we have a lot of lost time to make up for. Starting with a family trip this weekend—anywhere Lily wants to go."

From the doorway, little Lily peeked in, wearing her favorite pajamas and holding a stuffed teddy bear. With a joyful giggle, she ran across the room and leaped into her parents' arms, completing a circle of love that nothing could ever break again.
