Chapter 5 - The Gala of DeceptionsThe grand ballroom of the Zenith Hotel glittered with crystal chandeliers and expensive champagne. Elite investors, food critics, and socialites mingled in expensive attire. Chloe entered on the arm of Victor Vance, wearing an even more dazzling emerald gown than before, her head held high with absolute arrogance.

Matteo stood near the entrance, greeting guests with an unreadable, cool smile. He wore a sharp charcoal tuxedo, looking every bit the untouchable titan of industry. Elena, dressed in an elegant, modest navy silk dress that Matteo had specially tailored for her, stood gracefully nearby, acting as the guest of honor—a move Matteo insisted on to publicly reclaim her dignity.
Midway through the evening, Victor signaled to the head of the board of directors, a corrupt investor named Mr. Sterling. Sterling cleared his throat, tapping his champagne glass for attention, and stepped up to the central microphone. "Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed partners," Sterling announced loudly, his voice echoing across the ballroom. "Before we celebrate tonight's culinary achievements, we must address a grave matter concerning the integrity and safety of this establishment. We have received reports of severe labor violations, health code compromises, and unauthorized personnel being positioned in high-security zones—specifically, an unqualified kitchen worker who happens to have a direct blood conflict of interest with our CEO."
Murmurs rippled through the crowd. Chloe beamed with malicious triumph, stepping forward to take the microphone next to Sterling. "It's true," Chloe projected her voice with practiced sadness. "Matteo has been covering up safety hazards and favoring unqualified family members, putting all of you at risk. I have the documents right here."
