Our real father, David Voss, died when we were fourteen.
He was the only person who ever protected us from Edric.
After the funeral, our mother married Edric within six months. She said it was for “stability.” What she really wanted was the money he had and the lifestyle he promised.
The first time Edric hit us was three weeks after the wedding.
He said we were “disrespectful” for not calling him “Dad.”
It only got worse from there.
He never touched our mother. He saved all of his cruelty for us.
