Shrieking In Despair Camille Demanded To Know How Gabriel Could Humiliate Her In Front Of Security Over A Mere Servant

The silence that followed Gabriel’s words was thick, suffocating, and absolute.

Camille Whitaker stood entirely frozen, her lips slightly parted, her blue eyes wide with a mixture of shock and sheer, unadulterated disbelief. She looked down at the black titanium ring sitting on the pristine white tablecloth, glinting beneath the glow of the massive crystal chandelier, then back up at Gabriel’s unreadable face.

"Gabriel," she said, her voice dropping its sharp edge, attempting to claw back the soft, melodious tone she usually used to charm him. "What are you doing? This is ridiculous. It’s a maid. She made a mistake, and I corrected her. You’re making a scene over a spilled teapot."

Gabriel didn't answer her. He didn't even look at her. Instead, he turned his head slightly toward the door where his men stood like statues. "Marco."

Marco stepped forward immediately, his heavy boots clicking against the marble floor. "Yes, Boss."

"Take Elena to the private clinic upstairs. Have Dr. Rossi look at her arm immediately. If she needs a specialist, call one. And ensure she is given a private room to rest." Gabriel’s voice was completely flat, devoid of anger, but carrying an icy weight that brook no argument.

"Right away," Marco said. He walked over to the trembling maid, his large, scarred hand gently guiding Elena Brooks away from the sideboard. Elena was sobbing quietly now, her hand still clamped over the blistering burn on her forearm, her eyes fixed on the floor as she was led out of the grand dining room.

Once the heavy oak doors clicked shut behind them, Camille let out a sharp, incredulous laugh. She threw her hands up, the diamonds on her wrist clinking together loudly. "Are you insane, Gabriel? You just humiliated me in front of your security detail! For a servant? Do you have any idea how bad this looks? My mother is planning our wedding in Newport. The invitations have already been sent to half the senate!"
