CHAPTER 1: THE SLAP OF ARROGANCE

CHAPTER 1: THE SLAP OF ARROGANCE

The grand ballroom of the Sterling estate was a sea of glittering elegance, bathed in the soft, warm glow of crystal chandeliers and expensive champagne flutes. But amid the high-society glamour, a cruel scene unfolded in the center of the room.

A young woman in a maid’s uniform, her dark hair neatly tied back, stood clutching a silver serving tray. Tears welled in her eyes as a sharp, stinging pain burned across her cheek. Standing directly before her with a look of pure malice was an affluent woman in a sleek black one-shoulder gown, her hand still raised from the vicious slap she had just delivered.

"Look at me when I'm speaking to you, you useless server!" the woman snarled, her voice dripping with contempt.

The maid flinched, her hands trembling as the serving tray tilted, sending two crystal champagne glasses crashing onto the polished marble floor. The sharp, explosive sound of shattering glass echoed through the hall, drawing the shocked gazes of the surrounding guests in tailored tuxedos and evening gowns.

Before the abusive woman could strike again, the heavy double doors at the end of the ballroom swung wide open. A tall man in an immaculate black velvet tuxedo strode in, flanked by two burly security guards in matching black suits. His jaw was clenched, and his eyes burned with a lethal, terrifying intensity.

"Who dared lay a hand on my wife?!" he shouted, his voice echoing with absolute authority across the silent room.

The woman in the black gown gasped, her haughty expression instantly melting into panic as she pointed a manicured finger at the maid. "She’s just a waitress! Throw her out!"

CHAPTER 2: THE TURN OF THE TIDE

The man in the velvet tuxedo ignored the panicked guests entirely. His eyes locked onto the crying maid. Without a second thought, he strode past the woman in the black gown, his face rigid with fury.

He reached out, his warm hands gently cupping the maid’s tear-stained face, tracing the angry red mark where she had been struck. The entire ballroom held its collective breath.

"You have no right to even say her name," the man growled, his voice dropping to a dangerous, low register as he turned his blazing glare back toward the woman who had slapped her.

The woman shrunk back, her chest heaving as she stammered, "You... you slapped me... for her?!"

The maid let out a ragged sob, burying her face against the man’s chest as he wrapped his arms securely around her, shielding her from the cruel stares of the elite crowd.

"She is not a waitress," the man declared, his voice ringing with absolute finality across the hall. "She is the true heir to this estate—and your reign of abuse in this family ends right now."
